Is there documentation available? What types of information is available in the knowledgebase? Are there guided tutorials, either in print or in video form? How up-to-date does the documentation look? Has it been maintained, or does it look like it’s been neglected for the past couple of years?
Thanks for the details, which, I do agree, checking into Database..Appreciated, yet this topic overall and endless amount of choices out there could confuse most, especially new people just learning, or established seasoned person still entertaining new aspects to build their own site/webpage, lol.
HostGator often offers promotions, coupons and special offers to customers during their initial term. Please note that special offers are limited-time promotional prices that are available to new customers and are valid for the Initial Term only, and not for successive or renewal periods. Promotional rates apply to Shared, Cloud, VPS, Dedicated, WordPress and Reseller hosting plans and will automatically renew after initial term at regular rate found in your control panel.
But GoDaddy took the prize for least helpful. Their representative technically answered our questions — with as few words as possible — but it felt like pulling It wasn’t enough to ask “Do you offer free dedicated IP addresses for some service tiers?” — answer, “Yes” — we had to ask which tiers it applied to. And when we asked, “How many servers do you have, and where are they located?” the rep’s reponse didn’t inspire a lot of confidence: “We have lots, everywhere.”
The most popular way to build a website is by using WordPress. All free web host users can install this amazing CMS with just a few mouse clicks. WordPress has advanced so much during the past few years that you can use it for almost any project. From simple blogs or portfolios to e-commerce stores and coupon websites – WordPress can do it all!
To be honest, their free web hosting does work. I can not tell you if their free hosting service is reliable in a long run as we had tested them for 2 months only, but it does work. Also they remove abuse sites quite quickly upon complaints that is good. We only state that their affiliate program is a scam. As for the free hosting, I suppose you should consider all the facts and decide by yourself if you are going to use their webhosting service or not.
If that’s the case, why do more expensive options exist? Why doesn’t Amazon get in on that action and host its website on a plan that costs just a couple o’ bucks a month? For those with mission-critical websites, how do you ensure that you’re getting a reliable web hosting provider?
For example, our own HostGator Website Builder provides an incredibly convenient drag-and-drop building experience. You can choose from a wide selection of themes, and even pre-built sections, to craft your own amazing website and publish it in no time!
Clustered hosting: having multiple servers hosting the same content for better resource utilization. Clustered servers are a perfect solution for high-availability dedicated hosting, or creating a scalable web hosting solution. A cluster may separate web serving from database hosting capability. (Usually web hosts use clustered hosting for their shared hosting plans, as there are multiple benefits to the mass managing of clients).
Just an fyi about 000.webhost: it suffered a ‘massive php security breach’ in late Oct 2015 and the entire host shut down for four days. Ever since, the service has been abysmal. The user support page has been defaulted to a Facebook page, where comments and concerns are going unanswered, and most of the domain features no longer function correctly, or at all (eg, file manager and FTP merely re-open the ‘dashboard’ page, delete site no longer functions, etc.)
SSL: Private SSL certification is important for e-commerce websites as it provides the security when customers fill their privacy information online. Customers get alerted when they check-out via a non https webpage and less likely complete their orders because it will leak out their finance information such as credit card number/pin. SSL certification usually requires separate purchase and is not cheap compared to the hosting fee. But advanced service plan of mainstream hosting companies often includes a free SSL certification.
