You do not have to click on any of my affiliate links. It’s all fine. But jut to tease you a bit, you should know that many companies run limited time offers exclusive to visitors coming through affiliate links.
They need to offer at least three types of hosting. We required all of our web hosts to offer shared, dedicated, and VPS or Cloud hosting. These upper service tiers are unlikely to be immediately necessary, but they offer upgraded services that can help your website flourish as it grows. You won’t need to migrate to another company and sign a new contract.
VPS hosting is one step up. It uses a single server, but makes virtual copies of it — even though lots websites live on the same server (just like with shared hosting) each one gets its own personal copy. You get your own IP address, root access to your individual space, increased security, and stabilized site performance. VPS hosts are still designed to handle low-to-moderate traffic levels, but if you don’t want your site’s performance to be impacted by anyone else, it’s worth it.

While it’s not for those who are looking to work out their coding skills, house various video files, or host an app they’ve been tinkering with (If you match these descriptions, read on!), Wix leads the way when it comes to easy setup and robust features. Their support isn’t great, but it almost doesn’t matter. We find Wix.com’s offering to be ideal for beginner site owners:
The biggest downside to ASP.NET is that many hosting providers do not support the language and those who do require you to opt for a Windows-hosting plan. These plans typically cost more than a Linux-based plan due to licensing fees charged by Microsoft.

Recently, we’ve added uptime monitoring to our review process, and the results show that most web hosts do an excellent job of keeping sites up and running. Web hosts with uptime issues are heavily penalized during the review process and are unable to qualify for top ratings.
I am a very upbeat person in general. I don’t like negativity, and I won’t put negative opinions on this website. That doesn’t mean that I haven’t seen a lot of poor service from various web hosts. On the contrary, I saw a lot! You just won’t find those web hosts here.
Just an fyi about 000.webhost: it suffered a ‘massive php security breach’ in late Oct 2015 and the entire host shut down for four days. Ever since, the service has been abysmal. The user support page has been defaulted to a Facebook page, where comments and concerns are going unanswered, and most of the domain features no longer function correctly, or at all (eg, file manager and FTP merely re-open the ‘dashboard’ page, delete site no longer functions, etc.)
A customer needs to evaluate the requirements of the application to choose what kind of hosting to use. Such considerations include database server software, scripting software, and operating system. Most hosting providers provide Linux-based web hosting which offers a wide range of different software. A typical configuration for a Linux server is the LAMP platform: Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP/Perl/Python. The web hosting client may want to have other such as email for their business domain, databases or multimedia services. A customer may also choose Windows as the hosting platform. The customer still can choose from Perl, PHP, Python and Ruby but may also use ASP .Net or Classic ASP. Web hosting packages often include a Web Content Management System, so the end-user does not have to worry about the more technical aspects.

Website hosting providers usually offer far more than just space on a server, many web hosts provide a full package to allow the website owner all the tools they require for their website. Most shared hosting plans come with a control panel which gives the user a simple to use interface to setup email address, add databases, FTP access to upload their website, backups, statistics, ecommerce shopping carts, and many scripts like WordPress blogging, or Joomla CMS. Many web hosting services also give you a free domain name, free advertising credits and a few other free bonuses so you choose their service.

Dreamhost holds a special place in my heart. The company, in addition to its commercial services, offers a free shared website to nonprofits. They provided a free website to a nonprofit I was affiliated with, which at the time, was a huge help for the cause. That offering is still available to 501(c)(3) nonprofits to this day.
Finally, there’s Wix. Unlike WordPress and Weebly, Wix is a browser-based platform, so you log in online, choose your theme, drag and drop to customize, and hit “PUBLISH.” Launching a blog is that simple. The platform is self-hosted, so you don’t have to think about what the servers are doing behind the scenes.
